Counseling Services
School counselors offer many services to students. These services include individual counseling, group counseling, classroom guidance lessons, responsive services and parent consultations.
Individual Counseling
Is a meeting between a counselor and an individual student. Sessions are kept confidential except when a student discloses that they are being hurt, are hurting someone else or want to hurt themselves.
Group Counseling
Students may be asked to join a counseling group. These students would have common interest or concerns. They would meet the same time every week for 4-6 weeks depending on the group. Counselors receive referrals from parents, teachers and self-referrals. Examples of groups include but are not limited to, social skills, self-esteem, making friends, grief and divorce.
Classroom Guidance
These are bi-monthly lessons to teach, practice and engage students with new skills in these three areas: academic, career and personal social growth.
Responsive Services
Counselors respond to the needs of students, staff and community in times of crisis.
Parent Consultation
Counselors are available by appointment to work with parents with concerns regarding their students.
