Beliefs and Philosophy
The counseling program at Howell Elementary School believes:
- All students have the potential to learn, grow, and be successful.
- All students have significance and worth as individuals and should be treated equally and kindly by one another and by the adults in their lives.
- All students should be encouraged to embrace new learning opportunities so they are prepared to successfully transition to middle school.
- The school counselors use data-driven decision making to set the course for program planning, service delivery, and use of resources.
- The school counselors adhere to the ASCA Ethical Standards and operate in a professional and responsible manner.
- The school counselors provide comprehensive school counseling programming for all students to address academic, social, and career needs.
- The school counseling program follows the ASCA National Model and provides school counseling programming for all students to cover the domains of academic, personal/social, and career.
- The school counseling program makes use of evidence-based programs and services known to positively impact students’ behavior and achievement.
- The school counseling program is intentional, data-driven and delivery of services and resources aligns with areas of greatest concern and need.
